LIZARD SPRINGS FORMATION

Age: Paleocene - lower Eocene

CUSHMAN & RENZ (1946) established the term Lizard Springs formation. A sketch map shows the type Iocation of the approximately 250 feet of dark greenish -grey, compact to nodular, poorly stratified marl and calcareous clay. From well sections the thickness is known to exceed 1,000 feet. The Lizard Springs formation rests conformably on the Chaudiere Formation and grades upwards into the Tertiary Navet formation. Thus, the Lizard Springs Formation occupies a transitional zone between the late Cretaceous and early Tertiary .

JARVIS (1929) discusses the fauna and points to Rzehankina epigona , Spiroplectiodes clotho and Nodosinella velasconensis.
