Dear Sir/ madam,

I have compiled a database of company name origins, and am now researching a bit about the company histories. I must admit, until I discovered the relevant answer, I didn't even realise Trinidad had any oil, but I've just read your page on it, which was very informative, but I noticed there was no mention of Trinidad Central Oilfields co., which became abbreviated to Tricentrol, and is now part of Arco. Is there anywhere I can see how they fitted into the whole picture of Trinidadian oil history.

yours, David Howard, London

ANSWER

TCO operated in an number of fields in Trinidad, Tabaquite being the most important, others were parrylands, barrackpore, balata, agostini, cruse to name a few.

Dear Curtis,

thanks a lot for the information. One final query, I know the car sales company now owned by Hartwells of Oxford, Trimoco is short for the Tricentrol Motor company. Is this the same one that started it up or just a coincidence of 2 similar names?

All the best, David Howard
