Conferences/Symposia

The Geological Society of Trinidad and Tobago has undertaken the responsibility of hosting the
Fourteenth Caribbean Geological Conference in 1995, to coincide with our own Third Geological Conference. A Conference
sub-committee will be set up shortly. Members interested in planning and organizing this major Conference are asked
to contact GSTT President, Eric Williams, to volunteer their services.
The 11th. Technical Conference of the Trinidad and Tobago Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers will be
held at the Gulf City Auditorium, on June 23-25, 1993. The theme of the conference is 'Energy Perspectives for
Trinidad and Tobago." Members are encouraged to submit their original work for presentation and publication
by the local chapter of the SPE.
The AAPG/SVG International Congress and Exhibition will be held in Caracas, Venezuela, from March 14-17, 1993.
The theme of this conference is Choices for a new world."
Three papers by GSTT members have been accepted for presentation:
(1)Exploration Applications of Integrated Biostratigraphic Analysis,
PIo-Pleistocene, Offshore Southern Trinidad, by J.M. Armentrout, R.C.
Becker, L.B.Fearn, W.M. Ah, D.G. Hudson, W.A. O'Neill, T.E. Tyrell and H.A.
Vonderhoya.
(2) Exploration within a Complex Thrust-Fold System - Moruga East Field, by S.R. Wharton.
(3)Tectonic Control in Source Rock Maturation and Oil Migration in Trinidad, by K.M. Persad, S.C. Talukdar and
W.G. Dow.

On October 17-20, 1993, the 1993 AAPG International Conference will come off at The Hague. It will be sponsored
jointly by the European Association of Petroleum Geoscientists and Engineers and the Geological Survey of The Netherlands.
The theme of the conference is "New Views on Old World Oil - Technology Leads the Way." The contact is
the AAPG Conference Department in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Industrial Minerals International Congress will take place in San Francisco, from May 17-20, 1993. Interested
persons can contact the organizers by telephone, at (212)21 3-6273. Abstracts of suitable papers for presentation
at this prestigious forum would be can still be submitted. Papers which are accepted will be published after the
Congress.
